Some important information for our students – old and new.
Smart devices
No mobile phones or smart watches are allowed on the school premises. If these devices are found on a student or hidden in a school bag etc. these will be confiscated, and they will be returned on the 7th of July 2024. This is a national policy therefore all schools in Malta follow this directive.
Student appearance
Full uniform is expected – no scribbling on any part of the uniform is permitted.
The only acceptable shoe colours are the following:
- Black
- Navy Blue
- Grey
- White
No jewellery is allowed barring small stud earrings worn on ear lobes. No big earrings are allowed. No piercings (in tongue, eyebrow etc.).
Regarding fingernails, no nail extensions or nail varnish are allowed. Only natural, clean, short nails.
No makeup is allowed, including eye lash extensions.
Students with long hair must always keep it in a ponytail.
While you’re wearing the uniform outside of the school students are to behave themselves diligently as they are representing the school while wearing the uniform.
Important information
Chewing gum is not permitted on the school premises at all times including the breaks.
Only things related to the school i.e., books, files, pocket, calculator etc. are to be held in school bags. Any other items not school related must not be brought to school. Teachers will guide students as to what to bring with them for their lessons.
Student lockers are situated on the 1st floor of the school. You will be given a specific time when you can access your locker.
During the first week at school, a passport photo will be taken for the transport pass.
School diaries need to be kept up to date by each student as these will be monitored throughout the scholastic year.
A Hamrun Secondary School Day
8:00 first bell. Students will start proceeding to the classroom/lab for the first lesson.
8:05 The first lesson will start punctually.
1st break – 10 minutes; long enough time to eat something in the school yard.
After the first break there will be a form/whole school assembly.
5-minute locker time.
The 4th, 5th and 6th lesson will take place.
2nd break – this will be 30 minutes long and there will be ‘break clubs’ where students can partake in various activities.
After the second break there will be a 5-minute locker time.
The last 2 lessons 7th and 8th lesson.

Note: When the bell rings after break time it is important for students to pick up their things and move on. Students are not to stay slacking behind.
Dismissal procedure
Students without a lanyard including the transport pass will not be allowed to go home. If students do not have their lanyard, the parents/guardians will have to collect them from school.
Students that avail from the school transport will meet in the school ground, where the route number will be called out. The students on that route will proceed to board the school transport.
For students who go home on foot, they will congregate in the corridor, where their transport pass will be checked, and they can proceed home on foot.
If a student forgets their lanyard and they realise this while they are already at school, they must immediately contact their assistant head.
School point system
Our school practices a point system both negative and positive points.
These depend on the student’s behaviour.
Every week these will be monitored, and repercussions will follow – both positive and negative.
When students/year group have an activity, party or outing, the school shall be checking these points. Students with the most negative points will not be allowed to join their peers on any activity, outing etc.
