On Wednesday 18th June a group of year 9 students had the opportunity to try obstacle course racing at OCA (Obstacle Course Academy). This sport is currently becoming very popular amongst people of all ages. Therefore, the PE team and PSCD joined forces in this cross-curricular project and combined the importance of living a healthy lifestyle and sports, both of which are essential for one’s physical and mental health. The aim behind this outing was primarily to encourage students to be more active, adventurous and above all lead a healthy lifestyle. Physical activity, in this case OCR has many benefits as the obstacles may represent the challenges that they have to face in their everyday life. Thus, this sport may be the motivation they need in order to build resilience and be determined to reach their full potential and never give up!
