Year 10 students taking SPA Spanish at our school have experienced the preparation of Spanish traditional sweets: ‘churros’ and ‘palmeritas’. A kitchen is also a learning lab for children where all of their senses are involved, thus building positive memories.
Here is a brief description how to make ‘churros’ at home:
- Boil 250ml of water and a pinch of salt. Remove from the heat, and then stir in 250grams of flour.
- Transfer the dough to a pastry bag and pipe into strips.
- Fry the strips in hot oil until they are golden.
- Drain the ‘churros’, then roll in cinnamon-sugar.
