In essence this is a lesson that deals with early Art form during the Ice-Age, that is cave Art and how these drawing on the walls where the first signs of religion, or afterlife belief in early human races such as the Neanderthals and us, the homo sapiens.
The cave of Ghar Dalam, which we visited on the 20th of March is an Ice-Age period cave. The students followed the Tour Leader throughout the site, then they were asked to draw some areas of the site.
They were divided in two groups, one drawing endemic plants and trees and the other drawing bones and skeletons on their Art journals. The outcome will be an A3 Artwork in any style chosen by the student as long as they use the sketches done on site.
Alongside Art they learnt, natural history, Maltese flora and fauna, human/animal evolution, cave formations and climate change.
