As part of our intergenerational project between students in Year 11 at San Gorg Preca College and Roseville Nursing Home we embarked on a programme where students were offered a work experience once a week for six weeks. Every week students were exposed to different areas within the home, from the laundry to maintenance, from the kitchen to the front office. Every week members of staff from the nursing home so kindly dedicated their time to our students explaining in detail the work done in the home. This experience was extremely beneficial to our students where they had the opportunity to interact with the elderly by participating in the activities while being exposed to the world of work. This hands on experience was vital for students as they were doing the units related to the world of work so they could put theory into practice. We left the home on our last day with a heavy heart as we got used to the lovely elderly and to the excellent staff working at Roseville Nursing Home.
