The Chemistry Department
The chemistry department at our school is made up of three teachers:
Ms J. Mifsud, Ms C. Abela and Ms R. Sant
Chemistry is one of the science subjects which a student in year 8 can decide to continue studying in the senior school. It is generally taken up as a complimentary subject to Biology which can lead the student to follow one of a number of courses in the Health sector. But there are no limitations as to what other option one can study along with chemistry. Students have opted for computer studies, graphical communication, home economics, art and others.
This subject offers many career opportunities which include the health sector, laboratory analysts in industry and pharmaceutical companies, art restauration, forensic and research.
Like all other option subject studied in our school there are 4 lessons every week which include theory as well as practical sessions.
Each student must wear a lab coat and safety glasses when doing practicals. A laboratory report must be written after each experiment, and the best 13 of these reports are then to be presented to the MatSEC board by the end of form 5.
